Auditoria Delivers Audio Design for TikTok x Madonna: House of Confessions

Auditoria delivered the audio design and playback systems for TikTok x Madonna: House of Confessions, a two-day pop-up experience in the heart of Soho that brought fans together to celebrate one of music’s most influential artists.

Commissioned by Done+Dusted X (DDX) on behalf of TikTok, the activation combined exclusive merchandise with interactive moments, all set against a continuously running soundtrack and synchronised video content.

Although compact in scale, the project presented a number of interesting design considerations. The venue was located within a concrete basement beneath Soho, creating a naturally reflective acoustic environment that required careful planning before the system could be installed.

Auditoria worked closely with the production team to develop a loudspeaker layout that complemented the set. Additional acoustic treatment was recommended to help soften the space, while the loudspeaker positions were carefully coordinated with the scenic design to provide consistent coverage without drawing attention to the technology.

One detail extended the experience beyond the main space. A pair of compact loudspeakers were positioned along the entrance staircase so visitors were already hearing Madonna before they reached the activation below.

Alongside the audio system design, Auditoria programmed both the audio and video playback using QLab, keeping the visuals synchronised with the continuously running playlist throughout the experience.

Joe Callister, Audio Consultant at Auditoria, said “It was a relatively small space, but there was quite a lot to think about. The room was almost entirely concrete, so we had to be careful about how the system behaved. A lot of the design was simply about making Madonna’s music feel like it belonged everywhere in the space, while keeping the technology itself in the background.”

Despite a programme that allowed just a single day for installation, the full system was designed, installed, programmed and commissioned in time for the opening of the activation.

The project was delivered using an L-Acoustics loudspeaker system, with QLab providing synchronised audio and video playback throughout the experience.
