THE FOUNDER'S MEMORIAL
The inauguration of the memorial dedicated to Sheikh Zayed
Done + Dusted UK created a spectacular and emotional inauguration of The Founders Memorial that celebrated the life, influence and legacy of Sheikh Zayed. The centrepiece of the memorial is The Constellation, a work created by Ralph Helmick, contains 1,327 geometric shapes suspended on 1,110 cables to create a series of evolving personal encounters with Sheikh Zayed’s image. Multiple loudspeaker systems
The loudspeaker system was a variation of a typical left / centre / right system. We used a ground stacked array of six L-Acoustics K2 on either side of the monument for all music and sound design content with a centre sub-bass array hidden beneath the stage consisting of six SB28 subs.
The centre channel consisted of single L-Acoustics KARA elements mounted between the stairs of the stage as the zero-time source with 300 L-Acoustics 5XT loudspeakers and 300 JBL Control series loudspeakers distributed throughout the audience area providing one loudspeaker between two guests. The centre channel contained only voice content including narration, interviews with colleagues and friends of Sheikh Zayed and voice recordings of Sheikh Zayed throughout his life.
Audio control system
We used a mirrored pair of DiGiCo SD5 consoles taking replay system inputs via MADI. The signal distribution system consisted of multiple DiGiCo SD Racks for inputs and various Optocore network devices distributing the outputs to LA-Rack's around the venue.
Show Control Systems
We used a dual-redundant pair of Ovation systems by Merging Technologies programmed by Steve Logan and handed over to Martyn Ward to operate. The system consists of a purpose-built Windows 10 computer running Ovation, the Horus audio interface delivering 128-channels via MADI, the Ovation keyboard, Avid Artist control surface and KVM per system.
