Celebrating Auditoria’s Wins at the Australian Event Awards
We’re taking a moment to look back and celebrate some of the early milestones that helped shape who we are as an audio-visual consultancy.
In both 2009 and 2013, Auditoria was honoured at the Australian Event Awards, recognised nationally for excellence in live event audio design. These awards hold a special place in our story, not only for the acknowledgement of our work, but also for what those projects meant to us and the wider industry at the time.
In 2009, we received our very first award: Best Technical Achievement for our work on World Youth Day 2008. At that point, it was the largest public event we had ever worked on, and for many involved, it was the biggest of their careers. It pushed our creative and technical abilities to new heights.
Scott Willsallen, Director of Auditoria, recalls, “World Youth Day pushed our design skills to the limit at that time, and we were pleased to have received such positive feedback from the organisers during the show, and to win our first award for it, that was huge for us. It marked the beginning of what Auditoria could become.”
Fast forward to 2013, and we were honoured again, this time twice over.
We received Best Technical Achievement for our contribution to the London 2012 Olympic Games ceremonies, and Best Export Achievement for a portfolio of international work that included London 2012 Olympic Games Ceremonies, the Arab Games in Doha, the Delhi Commonwealth Games, and the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore.
The Technical Achievement Award recognised our multi-year involvement in designing and delivering an Olympic stadium sound experience as well as developing a custom-engineered tension ring system to position the main loudspeakers 20 metres further into the stadium than the roofline allowed, a decision that significantly elevated the audience experience.
“That project was four years in the making,” says Scott. “We had a clear vision of how the sound should feel in the stadium, and we worked with an amazing engineering team to make it physically possible. Once the speakers were in the right place, it became about content, mixing, and leading an incredible global team to deliver something unforgettable.”
The Export Achievement Award recognised the growing reach of our work overseas, evidence that specialised, high-impact audio design from Australia could stand tall on the world stage.
Looking back, these awards were more than achievements; they were markers of growth, creative collaboration, and technical courage. They celebrated the people we worked with, the problems we solved, and the lessons we carried forward into future projects.
At Auditoria, we’re proud to continue building on that legacy, delivering independent, innovative audio solutions that enhance live experiences worldwide.
