Auditoria Wins Emmy Award for Outstanding Sound Mixing at Baku 2015 European Games Opening Ceremony
Auditoria is proud to announce that our work on the Baku 2015 European Games Opening Ceremony was recognised with an Emmy Award for Outstanding Live and Direct to Tape Sound Mixing at the 43rd Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards in Los Angeles.
Held on April 29, 2016, the awards ceremony honoured excellence across all fields of daytime programming. The Baku 2015 Opening Ceremony received a total of six nominations and ultimately took home two Emmy Awards, for Outstanding Lighting Direction and Outstanding Live and Direct to Tape Sound Mixing, a reflection of the show’s world-class production values and technical achievements.
Commissioned by FiveCurrents, Auditoria was responsible for full stadium-wide audio system design and operation for both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the first-ever European Games. Our scope included front-of-house, broadcast, and monitoring system architecture, redundant signal transport, RF systems, replay integration, and on-site technical leadership throughout. The project took place at the newly constructed Baku National Stadium, which hosted more than 65,000 spectators and a global broadcast audience of millions.
The Opening Ceremony featured over 6,000 athletes, performances from global stars including Lady Gaga, and was praised for its stunning visuals, large-scale performance design, and seamless technical execution.
Scott Willsallen, Auditoria’s Director, adds, “We approached the event using the same tried-and-tested methods and techniques we bring to every project.” He goes on to say, “What really paid off was being able to deliver the energy of the live show to the broadcast audience, just as it was experienced in the venue. We were given an advantage from the outset as the content we were working with was spectacular, so musically and visually, it was a brilliant show. To have that work recognised with an Emmy is incredibly meaningful. It’s a huge credit to the whole team, and to FiveCurrents for producing such an extraordinary event.”
Auditoria continues to deliver award-winning audio system design and show control services for major events worldwide.
