The Brief

In June and July 2024, Auditoria were engaged by DNA Networks to deliver audio design and technical expertise for one of the most high-profile private events in recent memory, the wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.

Our role covered three key phases: pre-production design and documentation for nine venues, delivery of the Sangeet celebration at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), and the wedding itself. The brief was vast in scope, requiring us to create an extraordinary guest experience with the highest possible sound quality across all events, from intimate cultural moments to large-scale immersive performances. It was also essential that we create a truly unique and memorable guest experience for the main wedding hall.

The Challenge

The project’s complexity lay in its scale and diversity. Nine distinct spaces were transformed for the celebrations, from grand theatres and vast celebration halls to open-air parade routes, market-style concourses, and even a purpose-built temporary cinema.

Each venue presented unique acoustic and technical demands. Many were scenic builds of theatrical quality, leaving minimal space for loudspeakers or control infrastructure. Timelines were remarkably tight, especially with such intricate scenery builds, leaving scenic and technical teams to work side-by-side until moments before doors opened.

The event brought together multiple local suppliers, each providing equipment for the various venues. Achieving consistency in quality and integration across such a broad range of systems, many built from mixed inventories, required careful coordination, creative problem-solving, and hands-on engineering.

Our Approach

Auditoria joined the project from the concept stage, working with DNA Networks, local suppliers, and other international teams to ensure the technical infrastructure could deliver the creative vision.

Our pre-production work included:

  • Designing and documenting audio systems for all nine venues
  • Advising on acoustic treatments and isolation between performance spaces.
  • Guiding the local audio recording team through a bespoke production process to suit the spatial audio environment we designed.
  • Managing procurement to ensure equipment met specification.

During the Sangeet, a spectacular evening of speeches, family performances, and international talent, we integrated our control systems into the theatre’s existing loudspeaker system, adding immersive mixing capability to transform a cinema-optimised venue into a concert-ready environment.

For the wedding itself, the centrepiece was Hall 3, where we designed and deployed an immersive audio system to accompany projection mapping and live performance. Working closely with the composer, we developed content stems for a seamless mix of live musicians and playback in a spatial sound field. Two independent systems were deployed: one for immersive content and another for localised reinforcement of a central stage.

Other highlights included:

  • The Baraat parade, a 500–600 metre route featuring multiple bands and DJs.
  • Live performances in Halls 1 and 2.
  • A temporary cinema with a curved screen, acoustically treated for optimal playback.
  • Market and dining spaces with tailored sound systems.

Technical Highlights:

Audio Design

Across the venues, we deployed a range of high-end technologies including:

Immersive mixing with L-ISA processing

Optocore distribution

Mixing was primarily handled on DiGiCo consoles

With the inclusion of Yamaha and Allen & Heath consoles in some venues, ensuring flexibility for the variety of performances using the systems available locally where possible.

Show Control Design

Ovation playback

Audio Production

Our on-site content editor ensured all playback material was optimised and show-ready, from short cues to complex medleys, so every moment sounded as intended.

The Results

Over four days of celebration, every space delivered a consistently high standard of sound, from intimate speeches to large-scale orchestral performances. Hall 3, the main wedding hall, offered guests a world-class immersive experience rarely heard in the region. While the parade, market, and other spaces maintained the same level of meticulous care and attention to detail.

The success of the project came down to close collaboration, both within our team and with international and local partners, and an unwavering focus on guest experience, regardless of the challenges behind the scenes.
